Ethos Fresh Press Live Rosin
By Hawaiian Ethos, Hawaii County, HI
Live Rosin fans! You may have noticed something new on the shelf at Ethos—Fresh Press Live Rosins have arrived at each of our stores in Kona, Waimea, and Hilo. This week’s Fresh Press strain is Rawtton! But for folks new to this family of products and curious about what makes them unique, here’s the scoop.
Making Concentrates Cool
Like all Ethos concentrates, Fresh Press Live Rosin starts as quality fresh frozen whole flower, which is turned into hash through ice-water separation and then slow-pressed into high purity live rosin. At this point in the process, we’ve made Fresh Press Live Rosin! However, unless special care is taken to preserve their state, these concentrates can quickly cure into other formats and consistencies, like batter, sauce, or jam.
Cold Chain Care
So what’s the key to keeping fresh press, fresh? Rather than storing them at warmer (curing) temperatures, Ethos Fresh Press Live Rosins are immediately frozen and intentionally kept cold continuously throughout transport and storage at the shops. We call this Cold Chain storage and it’s designed to pause the curing process from press to purchase. The result is a terpene-rich and potently fresh final product!
Find Your Sweet Spot
Once Fresh Press Live Rosins are taken out of cold storage and exposed to prolonged room temperatures, the curing process begins through chemical changes that affect color, aroma, and consistency. Each strain cures differently and can be used at any stage of its lifecycle based on your preferences for consistency and flavor. Once you’ve found your sweet spot, put your rosin back into cold storage to pause the process again and lock in the consistency, just how you like it.
